Drivers reminded of Rhyl traffic order
Denbighshire County Council is urging drivers not to ignore an existing traffic order in place in Rhyl town centre.
Concerns have been raised over an increase in the number of vehicles using a route from the top of the High Street, into Sussex Street to join with Queens Street.
A traffic order covers this route, restricting access between 10am and 5pm for all vehicles.
The Council is also appealing to drivers to be aware of the parking restrictions that are in place in this area. Enforcement officers have already increased patrols in the area to monitor the existing restrictions.
Councillor Brian Jones, Lead Member for Waste, Transport and the Environment, said: “We are fully aware of an ongoing issue since the beginnings of the pandemic involving vehicle drivers ignoring this restriction order covering this area pedestrian zone. The Council has received reports of an increase in delivery vehicles and also members of the public not adhering to the restriction in place.
“The Council is concerned for the safety of pedestrians using the High Street and Sussex Street. Our enforcement officers are already increasing patrols in the area to monitor adherence to parking restrictions and we will continue to work closely with colleagues from North Wales Police to maintain public safety as a priority.
