Motorists In Jam over Bank Holiday Weekend

Success For Towyn This Easter... But What About the Traffic?

Motorists over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend brought Towyn Road to a standstill on Easter Sunday.

Most of the traffic is due to queuing traffic entering Tir Prince Market.

Towyn normally attracts nearly 30,000 visitors over busy weekends like these and causes a nuisance to many including the No 12 Arriva Bus Service and Emergency Services.

For many years Conwy Council has looked at better traffic management to avoid lengthy delays on the A548 through Towyn and onto Kinmel Bay. But the problems still exist.

The 2024 Easter weekend seemed to be a busy one with many businesses reporting good footfall and a successful turnover, they were sad to see that even with the new traffic management at Tir Prince Market  over the weekend the crossroads were still gridlocked.

Some visitors entering Towyn even reported over an hour delay entering from Gors Road.

Some residents showed their frustration on social media by saying it would make sense to charge for parking at the market on the way out. But would this stop the gridlock that has been happening in Towyn for years?
