The first stage of the major transformation of Rhyl Leisure Centre is now complete and will unveiled to the public this weekend.
Over £1 million is being spent on upgrading facilities at the leisure centre, with the functional training suite in the former drama room ready to open to the public on Saturday, 9 June. A state of the art spinning studio is due to open on 23rd June and the enhanced fitness suite re-opens on July 3rd.
This work complements other works at the Leisure Centre, including refurbished changing rooms and poolside seating.
The brand new facilities will offer a wide range of training equipment, as it becomes the premier fitness provision along the North Wales Coast. The facilities will also be used by the vibrant GP referral programme.
Councillor Bobby Feeley, Cabinet Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, said: “We are extremely proud of our track record of investment in leisure centres when other areas of the UK are actually seeing leisure centres close. We firmly believe in the need for investment in facilities, as there are clear health and well-being benefits, as well as a strong demand from the public for activities and facilities they can access seven days a week.
“The work at Rhyl is exciting and I’m sure that members, old and new will be delighted with the brand new facilities on offer”.
