Sound Radio are delighted to receive just under £1000 worth of funding from the Conwy Voluntary Service Council’s Voluntary Sector Emergency Fund.
The funding from of £994.64 was distributed by CVSC from the Welsh Government and is to ensure our new studios and working environment in Towyn is COVID-19 safe with COVID-19 Code of Practice in place. This will support volunteers, visitors and young trainees to work and take part in a COVID-19 safe environment during the current outbreak and to continue a high standard of hygiene into the future. The funding will let us continue to support the community by supplying important information broadcasts and run regular radio broadcast and media training to members of the community safely.
Sound Radio currently has 21 volunteers of which 8 remain in isolation due to COVID-19 shielding requirements. Our aim to help engage with volunteers more on a face to face basis, socially distanced and begin to grow our volunteer base once our studios are safe and clean for them to use.
It will also support the 100s of guests and visitors from the community and effectively support our youth training courses offering opportunities to gain transferable work related skills using media, digital technology and radio broadcasting at our studio in Towyn.
Sound Radio Director, Craig Kennealey said;
“We are delighted with the help of funding from CSVC, we can now continue to work towards Sound Radio going on FM in the Autumn by bringing our volunteers back into a radio environment safely and invite others to join us”
The funding will begin from August 1st 2020 and is ongoing.
