A local theatre in the heart of a community

As I have not lived in North Wales long I am always discovering new places to go, When I found out that National Theatre Live were to show a live recording of David Tennant in GOOD I wanted to find the perfect spot to watch this. I had previously been to local cinemas to watch National Theatre productions, it didn’t have the same feel as being sat in a theatre. Im over the moon that I have discovered Theatr Colwyn. It is the perfect location to settle in and watch a production that has been filmed live in another theatre, usually in London’s West End.

Theatr Colwyn have been putting National Theatre Live shows on from 2013 when it all started with Helen Mirren staring in The Audience. Theatr Colwyn was sold out! The 300 seat auditorium filled as the curtain rises for the first of many National Theatre Live shows. The shows are played nationally at the same time and day, this usually falls on a Thursday evening. I spoke with Phil Batty from Theatr Colwyn he told me that the theatre has been in the Top 10 places to watch a National Theatre live show. Phil also mentioned about the venues 50p screenings, family films for 50p a ticket with some refreshments also being 50p each. A fantastic way to help out families that may be struggling at this moment in time.

The next National Theatre Live show at Theatr Colwyn is Best of Enemies starring David Harewood (Homeland) and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) play feuding political rivals in James Graham’s (Sherwood) multiple award-winning new drama. Filmed live from London’s West End.
