The Met Office has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms, with flooding and power cuts possible. The yellow alert comes into effect at 9am on Wednesday, and lasts until 7pm.
It covers Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham. People have been warned of possible damage to buildings from lightning strikes, travel disruption and possible flooding and power cuts.
A Met Office forecast said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected during Wednesday. Where they do develop they could be slow-moving and persistent with as much as 20-25 mm of rain falling within an hour and possibly 40 mm in 2-3 hours in a few places.
“Lightning and hail will be additional hazards.” Things don’t look set to change anytime soon, with the Met Office forecasting “unsettled conditions” for the UK in the first half of August.
