An Intensive Care senior consultant based in North Wales is currently stuck in India after visiting earlier this year to be with his sick father who has since passed away. Since the Coronavirus outbreak in India it has been made difficult for Dr Sundaram to return home after travel to and from India has been banned, he has also been in self isolation for a number of weeks.
Dr Venkat Sundaram, a senior consultant in Intensive Care at Glan Clwyd Hospital, North Wales, is unable to come home to his wife, young children and to the vital role he provides as an Intensive care provider.
Despite repeated pleas to the British Government, he has thus far not received any help at all in returning. The situation is becoming increasingly desperate in the UK to have the maximum medical resources ready and in place to tackle this pandemic.
Dr Sundaram has also made a plea via social media video stating his claim for a return to the UK to help during the coronavirus outbreak. The video of which has had over 500 shares and viewed over 7000 times.
A petition has been set up in support of a return to the UK for Dr Sundaram and currently has just under 1000 signatures in aid of his return. The petition goes on to state:
Please help us help not only to rescue this fantastic doctor return to his wonderful family, but also to allow him to serve his country in these unprecedented times. Please sign to help us make the government hear our pleas to get him home where he is vitally needed.
