STAND North Wales CIC: Parent led organisation, which supports families with children, young people & adults with additional needs and disabilities in North Wales.
STAND is an acronym for Stronger Together for Additional Needs & Disabilities.
We had Ceri Tibbs and Sarah McCulloch join us in the Studio today to tell us a little about their organisation, the services it provides & how you can access and support it.
STAND North Wales was set up in 2018 by Sarah McCulloch and Yvonne Brookes with just £50 in the kitty ! and continues to go from strength to strength. It is a Community Interest Company and not a Charity as they receive no core funding from the Welsh Government and rely on funding secured, sponsorships and fundraising events. Therefore delivery of services is dependent on funding secured in that area.
STAND North Wales works with families and professionals and offer:
- A listening ear
- training for parents & p[rofessionals
- workshops for parents and carers
- parent support groups
- workshops and activities for all age groups & all abilities eg. karaoke, bingo, wellbeing walks, youth groups, living skills, family days to name but a few.
A Sensory Lending Library is also available for families signed up to STAND North Wales in Conwy and Denbighshire. There is a £10 a year membership fee: it allows families to trial an item for 28 days to see if the child likes it prior to the parents/carers buying it. They have sensory toys, small equipment and information books in the Library. It is possible to sponsor an item in the Sensory Lending Library which aids with costs for STAND North Wales.
Other ways to help:
- Sponsorship
- Fundraising- auctions, raffles, walks, football cards etc
- Donations
STAND North Wales is holding its 3rd Annual Disability Event on Wednesday 30th October 2024 at Venue Cymru Llandudno; there will be up to 100 stands, autism bus, workshops, employer events & sensory room + much more.

This is a fantastic organisation providing help from birth to adulthood.
We would like to say many thanks to Sarah and Ceri for taking time out of their busy day to come into the Studio here at Sound Radio to talk to us about STAND North Wales CIC & what the organisation provides.
