Lisa Williams has daughters Alysa and Talia-Beau with her husband, Philip

Lisa has experienced several miscarriages herself, starting in July 2016, and said that being told “there was nothing in your womb” was utterly devastating.

By speaking out about miscarriage, Lisa hopes her words can both help others, and remove the “taboo” about the subject.

Each year, she holds events to fundraise for miscarriage awareness, having previously done auction nights, sponsored walks, and raise money through collection boxes during lockdown.

This year, Lisa is bringing people together to walk on broken glass to raise money for the miscarriage charity “Tommy’s”.

The glass walk will take place on Saturday, July 16, at JJ’s Studios on Wellington Road, Rhyl.

She said: “Alysa was born in 2013 and by the time she was three, we were ready to add to our family.

“I went into a very dark place after the second miscarriage and felt as though I had lost my zest for life.

“I felt worthless as a woman, as I couldn’t carry my babies.”

Lisa has since gone on to have a healthy baby girl, Talia-Beau, who was born during the COVID-19 lockdown period of 2020.

She added: “I hope my story helps others see that there is a light at the end of the darkness.”

Miscarriage can have a profound psychological effect, often on both parents, which can lead to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.

According to Tommy’s, one in 100 women suffer from recurrent miscarriages, and one in four suffer from baby loss.

Walking on glass is said to be one of the purest forms of meditation, Lisa added that she hopes the event is going to be “liberating and empowering”.

The event has been sponsored by The Amethyst Soul, Blue Turtle and TLC Property Lettings.

Registration is still open to join the event and donations would be greatly appreciated.
