Whole of Wales feels the earth move as country is rocked by earthquake

A reported 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit the whole of Wales and parts of England at around 2:30pm on Saturday 17th February.

The short tremor, which was felt in Cardiff and Rhyl, rocked buildings and shook greenhouses. Powys and Dyfed Police reported on Twitter about an extremely high volume in calls to their control room after residents feeling the tremor.

Other reports have shown the earthquake hit 4km away from Swansea in South Wales reaching a magnitude on 4.2.

It comes hours after an earthquake shook south west Mexico during the early hours (GMT) which reached a magnitude of 7.2, shaking building but leaving no serious injuries.
