Sound Radio Wales is a CIC community radio station run by a team of dedicated volunteers providing a great sound.
Based in Towyn, we are fully focused on our locality and run by people from the community and offer a 24/7 FM radio service for the North Wales coast.
Sound Radio is a C.I.C. company giving volunteers of all ages in the community the opportunity to learn and produce creative content such as live radio, podcasting, video production and more to increase their own skill set in a fully working environment.
In December 2019, Sound Radio LTD was awarded an FM community radio licence from Ofcom, to broadcast to Towyn, Kinmel Bay, Rhyl, Abergele, Prestatyn and surrounding towns and villages of the Vale of Clwyd.
Sound Radio will reach over 80,000 residential listeners in the community and up to 500,000 transient members who visit the area on a yearly basis.

What is FM community radio?
Community radio stations typically cover a small geographical area with a coverage radius of up to 5km, and are run on a not-for-profit basis.
They can cater for whole communities or for different areas of interest – such as a particular ethnic group, age group or interest group. They can also bring community benefits such as training and community news and discussion
How will the community benefit from Sound Radio?
Sound Radio will continue as a radio station and a community group to operate to the demands of the community and help highlight and inform the area it broadcasts to, with a radio service that is fully focused on benefiting the people of the community. As a not for profit company this means there are no shareholders and money raised from donations, funding and advertising goes directly into the radio station to maintaining its capability to broadcast to the community.
