On Sunday 16th November, The Sound Radio 103.1 Outside Broadcast team were out on Conwy Quay with nearly 4000 runners who had come to compete in one of the biggest running events on the North Wales Coast.
3000+ Competitors for 2025
The event, which is organised by “Run Wales”, was their biggest yet with crowds gathering of competitors, friends and families there to help support the runners.
The day started with a “Fun Run”, which is aimed at younger runners and anyone that just wants to run a shorter distance. This event still attracted quite a crowd with some of the youngest runners being 9 years old with adults running alongside.
The Main event started at 10:30 with 4000 runners and spectators lined up on the bridge which crosses Conwy River. The finish line was on Conwy Quay, and with the first competitor coming back at just 1hr and 5 minutes saw the crowds cheering as he came round the final bend
What is a Half Marathon ?
The Conwy Half Marathon route runs along the road adjacent to the Conwy River as it proceeds towards Deganwy and the West Shore Llandudno, from there it goes along church Walks towards Llandudno Pier, then around the Great Orme, taking in views of the Isle of Anglesey
It was an absolute success with every competitor receiving a medal on completion and some runners had their names read out as they came past the finishing posts live on the radio and over the P.A system at the event.

The Sound Radio team were kept busy with keeping the live broadcast running and interviewing the competitors and visitors to the event.

According to the Run Wales website it is Voted in the top 5 most scenic Half Marathons in the UK by Readers of Runners World”, This GREAT Half Marathon now in its 17th year was a classic race on the calendar” With a start & finish on the bridge near the quayside in front of the 700+ year old Conwy Castle.
